Paparoa Ultra is a new community-driven endurance event celebrating the unique beauty and challenge of the Paparoa Track. Limited to 120 competitors, it offers a rare chance to run an iconic Great Walk in race format. Covering the full length of the trail, this event takes you from dense native forest to alpine tops, across swing bridges, and past dramatic limestone cliffs, all on one of the country’s most spectacular backcountry journeys.

Remote and mostly self-supported, this ultra marathon is for experienced runners only, ready to take on a true adventure. With limited aid on course, you’ll need to be fit, prepared, and capable of looking after yourself in an unpredictable environment.
